\"Headshot+\"<\/a>Each year Bedford Players provides a $1000 scholarship to a local student pursuing, or intending to pursue, theatre arts in a post-secondary institution.<\/p>\n

The 2014 scholarship was recently presented to Rachel Smith of Lower Sackville.<\/p>\n

Rachel has lived in \u00a0Lower Sackville for most of her life where she graduated from\u00a0Sackville High School in 2012. She entered <\/span>Dalhousie University without a clear vision of what she wanted to pursue, but because she had always been interested in theatre she took some courses in that department and <\/span>quickly realiz<\/span>ed she wanted to major in Acting!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rachel says, “I<\/span> really love being on stage and having the opportunity to portray different characters.” After auditioning a<\/span>t Dalhousie she made it into the Acting P<\/span>rogramme and is\u00a0<\/span>presently<\/span> in her\u00a0third year of study. Dalhousie’s Fountain School of Performing Arts is currently working on their production of <\/span>Lion in the Streets, <\/span><\/em>by Canadian playwright Judith Thompson. Rachel told us she is, “happy to have\u00a0t<\/span>he privilege of performing in this very <\/span>intriguing<\/span> play<\/span>!” <\/span><\/p>\n

Rachel’s current experience is limited to stage acting and she enjoys musicals, but she would also like to try film in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n

“I hope to be able to pursue acting as a career and I\u2019ll go wherever <\/span>that dream may lead me. I <\/span><\/em>can\u2019t picture myself doing anything else.<\/em>“<\/span><\/p>\n
