About the Show
It’s 1942, and two of Hollywood’s biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel – with assistance, luggage, and legendary feud with one another in tow. Everything seems to be in order for their wartime fundraising performance… That is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendre, and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out this hilarious riot of the love note to the classic farces of the 1930s and 40s.
Character Breakdown
* Otis and Francis (ages approximately 25-40s) – Bellhops; these two are a comedic duo.
* Bernard Dunlap (aged 40s-50s) – The hotel manager. Dapper and impeccably dressed; supposedly in control, yet, under the calm surface of his polished demeanour and perfectly pressed suit, is a hysteric screaming to come out.
* Mrs. Osgood (45-60s) – President of Palm Beach Ladies For Unity. She looks at the war effort as if it’s just another social event. Matronly, stylish, and a bit daft.
* Claudia McFadden – (40s-55) A real diva; dramatic, demanding and expects the very best. An impressive woman, larger than life. Every word and every gesture is an exclamation point.
* Mr. Pippit (35-50s) – Claudia’s personal secretary and caretaker for Caludia’s lapdog, Mr. Boodles. Pippit is tightly wound and perpetually stressed.
* Athena Sinclair (40s-50s) A great star of stage and screen. An entitled diva who is used to the finer things in life. Elegant, calculating, and extremely proud.
* Murphy Stevens (25-35) Athena’s personal secretary. Efficient and seemingly more grounded than the diva she works for.
* Dora Del Rio (35-50s) – A gossip columnist who is always chasing the next big scoop. Determined and unapologetically nosy.

Sunday August 10 and Monday August 11 – at 7pm sharp

Auditions will be a table read format using different parts from the script; no prepared piece required.

Character outlines and script excerpts will be provided.

We ask that you please be present at 7:00 pm on your chosen audition night!

Auditions will be held at 1408 Bedford Highway, All Saints Anglican Church (upper parking lot).
