Committees

Like any organization, Bedford Players has several committees. These committees carry out special functions in the organization. Time commitment varies and is generally quite flexible depending on the members' availability.
Committee/GroupDescription
Play Reading GroupThe group may be chaired by the Artistic Director or another member. Accepts suggestions for play reads from members or others. The chair selects the plays, dates, arranges a location and ensures adequate notice sent to membership about the workshops. The group is open to anyone who'd like to attend a reading. The readings are advertised in our newsletter, on the website and in social media. They tend to be fun, social times. Parts in the play are usually rotated among those in attendance and attendees can take part in the reading, or just sit back and enjoy the reading. No experience or skill is required.
Social CommitteeSuggests and plans social events which may include: group bookings for dinner, followed by a visit to productions by other theatres, Pot-Luck Parties, etc. Assists with Launch and wrap parties as well as AGM social activity. New ideas welcome!

Time commitment: This is really up to you! It would be great to have 4 or 5 social events each year.
Scholarship CommitteeBedford Players offers an annual scholarship. The chair of the committee prepares information packages for local high schools and ensures they are distributed in a timely manner. The committee meets once or twice to select the recipient.
Workshop CoordinatorThis may be the Artistic Director or another member.
Accepts suggestions for workshops based on membership interest and need. Liaise with Membership Coordinator and Executive Director to determine need for workshops. Arranges dates, location and facilitator for workshops. Ensures adequate notice sent to membership about the workshops.
