Job title: Treasurer for Community Theatre
Location: Bedford, NS
Terms: Part-Time – Volunteer
Reports to: Bedford Players Executive Council

  

About us: Bedford Players is a community theatre in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Bedford Players has been producing quality theatre for over 40 years and currently produces 3 productions per season with 11 performances each.
Overview: Oversee the management and reporting of the organization’s finances.
Responsibilities:
  • Sit as a decision-making member of the executive board
  • Participate in all matters related to the sound management and fiscal responsibilities of the theatre
  • Ensure the accuracy of the accounting records
  • Provide box office floats for each production
  • Manage incoming and outgoing funds in a timely manner
  • Report the financial position of the theatre to the executive and board
  • Track all expenditures for each production and be able to provide a production financial report
  • Provide advice to the board of directors on all financial matters
  • Assist production teams with guidance in accounting matters
  • Report the financial position of the Theatre to the members at the AGM.
  • Review and reconcile the bank statements
  • Complete reimbursement of members out of pocket costs
  • Liaise with the ticketing partner to ensure correct production data is submitted for ticket sales to begin on time
  • Receive ticketing financial statements and reports from the ticketing partner
  • Work with the ticketing partner to resolve any ticketing-related issues
Candidate requirements:
  • Flexibility to volunteer on evenings and weekends
  • Experience with accounting for a community organization/not-for-profit is beneficial
Other: GnuCash Accounting software is currently being used.
