(see below)

The Cast (14 roles available):

  • Chris – 50’s – Funny, smart, clever and likes to push boundaries. Always likes and hosts a good party and only joined the WI to keep her Mother in Law happy!
  • Annie – 50’s – Chris’s best friend but a bit more conservative. She will calm the waters that Chrissy has boiled up, but she does have a quiet strength about her.
  • Cora – 40’s – An intelligent and witty lady who ended up living back with her parents after getting unexpectedly pregnant at college! A very dry sense of humour but a tender side too. (must be able to sing a bit)
  • Jessie – 60/70’s – A retired school teacher with a stern outlook, but with a zest for life, who is not afraid to take risks. She takes pride in her natural appearance because she feels her brave heart is beauty enough.
  • Celia – 40’s – Opposite of Jessie, loves make up, designer clothes and is definitely more at home in a clothing store than the church hall. She and Jessie see life very differently but there is a rapport between them.
  • Ruth – 40’s – A natural pleaser wants to ensure everyone is happy and good. Unfortunately, her own life does not mirror her happy persona. She has an air of gentleness about her that makes the other ladies feel protective over her.
  • Marie – 50’s – Marie has a defensive conservative approach to life having taken a big risk earlier in life by moving to Australia, only to have this move fail and have to return to Cheshire. She has made this WL group her trophy project!
  • John – 50’s – Annie’s husband, he is the kind of man/human everyone wants in their lives. He is a human sunflower.
  • Rod – 50’s – Chrissy’s husband, hard working, hard playing guy who loves Chrissy completely and embraces the challenge of being married to her.
  • Lawrence – 20/30’s – He is a hesitant awkward young man who happens to be a photographer but is plucky enough to take on the challenge of the calendar! He doesn’t see nudity, just a photo!
  • Lady Cravenshire – 60/70’s – Patronising and overbearing, she sees the women of the WI as her estate workers and never as equals!
  • Elaine – 20’s – Patronising in a different way as she talks to her clients like they are still at primary school. As a beautician working at the spa, she has honed this way of speaking and sees anyone over 50 as dinosaurs…!
  • Liam – 20/30’s – Working in TV, he feels he should be directing something other than tv commercials for laundry detergent. He gives the impression of being shallow and only doing the commercial because he feels it is just another step on the ladder. Remains sarcastically professional throughout.
  • Brenda Hulse – 60’s – Guest speaker at the WI meetings is a dowdy, frumpy woman who thinks that her interests in things such as tea towels and broccoli are worth sharing!!

Auditions will be done in 10 minute timeslots with two auditionees reading a provided monologue.

A note from the Director –

This play is definitely worth the effort of auditioning, as the difference of character personalities all collide in this calendar project! There are some surprises that come from it, not to mention the laughs you all will have as a cast. This play will make you both laugh and cry, but you will leave the stage after every performance with a warm-hearted feeling and the knowledge that not everyone’s life is as perfect as it may seem!
