About the Playwright
Known as The Queen of Crime, Dame Agatha Christie was born in Torquay, England, in 1890 and is the best-selling novelist of all time. With over one billion books sold in English and another billion in over 100 languages, she is outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. She wrote 80 crime novels and collections of short stories, over 25 plays (including The Mousetrap, the world’s longest-running play), and six novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introduced the world to the beloved Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, followed a decade later by the shrewd and often-underestimated Miss Marple.

Charity of Choice
Founded in 1980, The Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes (EAM) is a non-profit organization based in Halifax, dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by epilepsy across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. For over four decades, they have worked to provide education, support, navigation, and advocacy to our communities. Their services include free seizure-safety sessions for schools, workplaces, and community organizations. The EAM also hosts monthly support groups designed to share education, reduce feelings of isolation, and create a sense of community. They also provide direct financial assistance to individuals living with epilepsy. Bedford Players is pleased to partner with The EAM, with $1 from every ticket sold for Witness for the Prosecution going to support patients and families living with epilepsy in the Maritimes.
